By using Toshiba's updated Hard disk drive technology, this Toshiba 40 GB 2.5-inch hard disk drive with SATA interface is a highly advanced product. Serial ATA or SATA is an evolution of the parallel ATA (PATA, also known as IDE) physical storage interface. Visually, the cables used are the most noticeable change from PATA. The SATA standard define a data cable using seven lines with a max. length up to 1 meter. Furthermore the data cable is thinner and facilitate more efficient airflow inside a form factor and also allow for smaller chassis designs. Another advantage of SATA is low power consumption due to a reduced voltage of the signal lines. This HDD is so the best solution for small Notebooks and small consumer electronics products.
