he Panasonic WJ-GXD900 MPEG2 decoder converts up to four channels of MPEG2 video coming over a network into standard video signals for viewing and recording to conventional analog equipment. This makes it a very useful tool in long range wiring applications where using Ethernet as a transmission method instead of BNC cables is a lot more feasible due to its relatively low physical cable cost and most importantly its ability to maintain signal strength over long distances before requiring boosters. Using this decoder in conjunction with Panasonic's WJ-GXE900 video encoder, a security control room can transmit video to and from off-site camera installations almost entirely over a network, with virtually no loss in video quality.
