The Axis Communications 241S 0186-004 Video Server effectively bridges the gap between analog and digital technology. The server accepts a single analog fixed or dome camera and turns it into a virtual network camera, complete with full remote Internet access, PTZ control and alarm I/O ports. This server includes its own enclosure and, unlike a Blade, is designed for complete standalone use. Connection to the network is via a single Ethernet cable, making it quick and easy to set up and operate without the need for a local PC. These and other features make this server a very useful tool for long-established security facilities, allowing them to take full advantage of the latest in network technology without having to replace their existing high-resolution and expensive analog equipment.
